We're building a socialist vision for the future — one where power rests in the hands of the multiracial working class, not the billionaires and political establishment.
Founded in 2016, the Long Beach Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) seeks to facilitate the transformation of society into one that is truly democratic and socially-controlled, centered on the needs, desires, and will of working people.
DSA rejects the capitalist political and economic system that, by design, incentivizes exploitation, domination, and discrimination based on race, gender or sexual orientation, along with brutality and violence in defense of the status quo.
Our conception of democratic socialism is rooted in the belief that human beings should be free to develop to their fullest potential, that public policies and distribution of resources should be determined not by wealth but by popular participation, and that individual liberties should be carefully safeguarded.
We seek to organize actively within struggles for justice and in coalition with like-minded organizations led by working class people in our communities. In the near-term, our goal is to create a better here and now for working people and improve organizing conditions with the ultimate goal of building a mass movement of class-conscious citizens capable of making democratic socialism a reality.
The lifeblood of our Chapter is committee work, beyond the General Meetings we hold every other month, socials, and workshops. You'll find our currently active committees listed here, and if one strikes your interest we encourage you to come to the next meeting!
