Building Momentum!
2026 Local Convention season is underway, and we've got big plans brewing! Our theme this year is "Building Momentum", which gets its name from the surge of membership and organizing we did in 2025. This year is the next step in growing DSA-LB into the fighting Chapter we know it can be.
What is Local Convention?
Our Local Convention is an all day event where we vote on proposals brought forth and worked on by members across the Chapter! As a chapter member your participation is essential as it will impact the work the chapter does for the next year.
Convention will once again take place in the Movement Hall (3rd Fl.) of the Youth and Movement Education Center (2217 E. 6th St) on Saturday April 18th.
Then, after a long day of debate, join us immediately afterwards for a Socialist Social to unwind and get to know your comrades better!

Can't Make It That Day?
Democracy is practice so it's important that if you can be there, you take part in Convention. This allows you to hear arguments from your comrades, share your point of view, and vote with that knowledge.
However, if you are unable to be there in person, we're offering two ways to be involved this year. First, while you won't be able to participate in debate, you can watch the live stream of the event via OpenSlides. Please check off "Virtual" attendee as part of your registration and after your membership status is verified, you will be provided log in info to join on the day.
If you cannot participate at all the day of Convention for whatever reason though, you may request to provide a Proxy Vote to a fellow Member in Good Standing who will be in attendance and can vote for you so that your voice can be counted. The person you confer your vote to must a) consent to vote on your behalf, b) be a Member in Good Standing, c) be in attendance physically on the day of Convention.
Please register and request a proxy vote so we can verify your membership status.
Additional instructions will be provided via email to those who request a proxy. Per our bylaws, any individual member may only hold up to 2 proxy votes.
